"shmuel goldstein is concerned with liminal states - transitional moments between poles such as conscious and unconscious, interior and exterior, male and female - which he used to raise social and cultural questions.
the term 'mobqueen' was coined by the artist by joining together two different concepts: 'mobius ring' and 'drag queen' ... this structure (the wooden mobius), with the additional of colorful hair pieces, is used by the artist as a methaphor for the existence of multiple ideentities - as in the case of the masculine-feminine expression of drag queens ... this work addresses the definition of identity in stereotypically gendered discourse as influenced by social constructions and norms" (from the zoom 2019 catalogue)
